About RingCentral Events: RingCentral events is an all-in-one solution for virtual, onsite, or hybrid events where Al enhances every milestone, from planning to execution. Position Overview: As a Backend Engineer for RingCentral Events, you will play a pivotal role in building and maintaining our virtual event platform. This role demands a strong skill set in backend development with Ruby on Rails & good experience working on Docker, Kubernetes & Terraform ensuring our product's scalability and performance for large audience events.
Key Responsibilities:
● Build and maintain scalable backend systems using Ruby on Rails, ensuring robust performance for large-scale virtual events.
● Experience as a full stack engineer building cloud native web applications from frontend development with TypeScript, JS and React to backend development with RoR, NodeJS Implement cloud-based solutions using AWS, with a focus on high availability and scalability.
● Develop reliable and scalable solutions for both virtual and onsite environments, catering to a large number of concurrent users both virtually and onsite. ● Collaborate with globally distributed cross-functional teams on product development. Take part in on-call responsibilities (~1 day/month) to ensure continuous availability and quick response to issues in production.
Qualification
● Minimum 10+ yrs of experience in backend development, with significant expertise in Ruby on Rails .
● Demonstrate proficiency in developing cloud-native applications for large-scale, high-traffic environments (AWS, Azure).
● Experience in developing RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL.
● Knowledge of caching mechanisms, such as Redis.
● Experience with messaging queues like Kafka or RabbitMQ.
● Familiarity with database management systems like AWS Aurora and PostgreSQL.
● Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes
● Strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze and debug complex systems.
● Eagerness to learn and stay updated on backend development practices and new technologies. Nice to have:
● A reliability-oriented mindset with a focus on designing and building resilient architectures.
● Experience maintaining pipelines using tools like Gitlab CI/CD or Github Actions.
● Familiarity with infrastructure as code (laC) using Terraform, focusing on infrastructure management and scalability.
● Previous SRE experience or knowledge, giving you a heightened awareness of what data to collect, how to display it, and how users can benefit from it.
● Experience with technologies like Web Sockets, WebRTC, and RTMP to develop real-time communication and streaming capabilities.
