Work Arrangement

Onsite- This position requires the employee to be onsite full time. The primary work location will be at the General Motors Global Technical Center in Warren, MI.

The Role

We are seeking a Robot Software Development Manager to join our Advanced Development team within the Autonomous Robotics Center (ARC). In this role, you will be responsible for leading a team of software engineers in the design, development, and implementation of autonomous systems.

In this role you will ensure that our software solutions are scalable, maintainable, and meet project requirements, while also complying with industry standards and best practices. You will collaborate closely with hardware and control teams to integrate software with physical systems and oversee the entire software development lifecycle.

What You'll Do

Project Administration and Record-Keeping: Oversee comprehensive project documentation and maintain meticulous records to ensure transparency and accountability throughout the project lifecycle.

Multi-Functional Collaboration: Foster strong partnerships with various development teams and support functions to drive innovation and enhance project outcomes.

Career Development Coaching and Mentoring: Provide guidance and mentorship to team members and direct reports, facilitating their professional growth and career advancement.

Project Scheduling and Time Management: Strategically plan and manage project timelines to optimize efficiency and meet critical deadlines.

Resource Delegation and Coordination: Lead the delegation and coordination of development activities across teams, ensuring optimal resource utilization while delivering exceptional software solutions across multiple platforms.

Team Management and Development: Directly manage a team, overseeing staffing, communication, training, and development. Prioritize tasks, evaluate performance, and proactively address roadblocks to ensure a high-performing work environment.

Additional Job Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

10+ years of experience in software design and development.Experience with Python, C/C++, ROS/ROS2, Git, DockerExperience with SLAM, and ROS-based navigation toolsExperience with motion planning algorithmsExperience in vison/lidar based perception systemsExperience with Linux-based embedded system software developmentStrong knowledge of software architecture and design principles.Demonstrated ability to collaborate with hardware and control teams.Experience in conducting code reviews and testing to ensure software quality and performance.Knowledge of software safety standard and practice for real-time systemsBachelor of Science in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

5+ years of experience in leading and managing robot software development teams.Advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.Experience in the robotics or automation industry.Knowledge of advanced software design methodologies and tools.Experience in prototyping and feasibility studies.Familiarity with the latest trends and technologies in autonomous systems and software development.
