What Application Development & Maintenance contributes to Cardinal Health
Information Technology oversees the effective development, delivery, and operation of computing and information services. This function anticipates, plans, and delivers Information Technology solutions and strategies that enable operations and drive business value.
Application Development & Maintenance performs configuration or coding to develop, enhance and sustain the organization's software systems in a cross-functional team environment through adherence to established design control processes and good engineering practices. This job family programs and configures end user applications, systems, databases and websites to achieve the organization's internal needs and externally-facing business needs. Application Development & Maintenance partners with business leaders, investigates user needs and conducts regular assessments, maintenance and enhancements of existing applications.
Responsibilities
Provide run support of applications by working with Cardinal Health infrastructure, cloud, database, network, security, other shared services teamsWork closely with the senior tech lead, functional & validation leads, software consulting partners, shared services teams, and managed services partnersMonitor system health and review alertsAnalyze and resolve production issues (primarily through ServiceNow tickets)Lead analysis on SRTs to restore services after a production outageAnalyze production issues through the full tech stack, including firewall/networking, database, application, and middleware layersDesign, develop, and deploy software code and solutions that comply with all applicable standards and regulationsManage technical documentationUnderstand business requirements and work to achieve the scalable solutionsDevelop and implement software solutions by either using out of the box configuration, process extensions, custom code/ scriptsDesign, write, and debug Java code and Python scriptsPartner with business to prepare, review, and execute data updatesPerform manual data extractsWrite and analyze SQL queries and troubleshoot data issuesPerform design and code peer reviewsProvide technical guidance on Production incidents, defects, enhancements, and build projectsAssist with development of our technology multi-year roadmapQualifications
4-8 years of experience, preferredBachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferredExperience working with Java and J2EE web servicesWorking with Tanzu/PCF servicesExperience working with GCP cloud assetsExperience writing and performance-tuning SQL queries is desired. Postgres DB experience is a plus, but not requiredAgile methodology experienceFamiliarity with ITSM best practicesStrong critical thinking, analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-resolution skillsStrong curiosity and desire to learn new technologiesStrong oral and written communication skillsEffective change management skillsWhat is expected of you and others at this level
