Software Engineer, Pricing Systems
Pricing Error Prevention (PEP) is a core part of Amazon’s shopping experience with a team undergoing rapid investment and growth. Our services requires high availability, high throughput, low latency to evaluate all offers and prevent pricing errors from reaching Amazon customers. PEP systems make decisions on which signals to consider when evaluating a price and take down those that breach Amazon’s fair pricing policies. This is a fast-paced startup team with recently built native AWS services and low technical debt and operational overhead. In addition to the core features described above and the backend services and data infrastructure that power them, there is a rich roadmap of new features planned that will transform the way we can protect customers from pricing errors.

Key job responsibilities
We are working on building next generation tools and software to help our sellers make informed pricing actions and also to present fairly priced listings to customers. This requires a wide range of skills and an aptitude to learn new technologies like:

(a) build large scale high quality systems that can handle over 80K events/sec and render the information on seller facing UI with low latency. (b) knack of solving technology problems in simplistic manner with an eye for innovation.

There is abundance of opportunities in this space and this team is one of the key strategic teams to create new solutions to ensure egregious prices never make it on Amazon. We are looking for smart, agile, and strong problem solvers who have burning passion for writing great software and solving big data problems.

Successful candidates for this position will have a strong background in designing and developing world-class micro services in software programming languages such as Java, Scala, Ruby, C++, C#, Python and NodeJS. Equally important to these specific candidate skills are excellent written and verbal communication skills both with the team and external teams, the ability to multi-task, the ability to translate business requirements to engineering requirements, the ability to adapt quickly to new environments and using creativity to solve difficult problems in a world-class engineering team.
