Within the CDIO – Assisted Channels team you will be developing E2E solutions to streamline through technology and automation some of the most critical operational processes within Santander, leveraging our digital channels to increase efficiency and customer satisfaction. As part of our different Agile Product Teams we are looking for team players who understands what Agile means and who understands the importance of testing automation and continuous integration and delivery.

The difference you’ll make:
We are seeking for a Software Engineer, someone who deeply gets the DevOps eco-system and all that encompasses. A forward-thinking problem-solver for the development and rapid delivery of next-generation platform solutions and prototypes, and who seeks and uses the right tool for the job. On a day-to-day basis you will be:
Developing user stories working solo or pairing with a colleague
Discussing functional and technical solutions with the different stakeholders in the business, UX designers, architecture, and engineering managers to ensure US are refined and understood at the correct level
Write the automated testing required to ensure your stories meet the criteria to be considered “Done”
Ensuring delivered solutions are developed under DevOps practices and latest technology trends
Keeping the solutions delivered running healthy in production minimising incidents and maximising quality of service
What you’ll bring:
Demonstrable experience in Application Development using the most recent versions of Angular, React, javascript, CSS, Java and Springboot.
Experience using GitHub, Jira, Jenkins during the development lifecycle as well as using automated tools to evaluate robustness, quality and vulnerabilities of the code developed.
Experience of using agile methodologies, TDD and BDD.
Knowledge of working with distributed infrastructure systems and client-server architectures.
Understanding of microservice oriented Architecture running on PaaS infrastructure.
It would also be nice for you to have:
Experience in both Front end and Back end technologies and willingness to learn and evolve
Exposure to DevOps eco-system and automation tools to follow Continuous Integration lifecycle
Understanding of Sales journeys for Banking products
What else you need to know:
Our main tech stack is Angular front end and Spring Boot or NodeJs on the backend and integrated with Appian as BPM engine for more complex workflows. We deploy into a PaaS using a Jenkins pipeline. We also interface with Git and the Gitlab API.
We aim to practice Test Driven Development with the goal of having sufficient confidence in our test coverage to enable direct and continuous delivery of our software into production.
We value up-skilling the entire team. To this end, we are seeking candidates who will contribute to the continuous improvement of our team, both through teaching and through learning.
This role is based in Milton Keynes (Unity Place).
We want our people to thrive at work and home, and also be able to deliver the best outcomes for our customers and to help each other develop. To support this, we offer site-based contracts with a hybrid working pattern and our expected level of attendance in an office is at least 12 days per month (pro-rata for part-time roles).
