In the Materials and Structural Analysis (MSD) Division of Thermo Fisher Scientific we provide innovative solutions for electron microscopy in scientific and industrial lab environments. A key component of those solutions is software.

The Position

The Software Engineer position is open in the Athena Platform team within the Data and Artificial Intelligence (D&AI) team at MSD R&D. The team is spread across the USA, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, and France. This role focuses on the SAFe organization and synchronization of our Athena Imaging Data Management platform, primarily located in Bordeaux, France.

The Athena team is an upbeat and enthusiastic group developing an outstanding workflow management system. We support customers in the semiconductor, life sciences, and material sciences industries, helping them make daily discoveries and build new devices.

Athena Platform operates through several sub-teams that specialize in back-end, front-end, and system development. The chosen candidate will be involved in delivering achievements within the back-end sub-team and will contribute to the planning of these achievements.

In this role you will:

Contributes to projects and day-to-day teamworkDeliver assigned feature, by coding and testingMaintains/Update code with high business valueIs able to review code source written by their teamFollows any priority Bugs/defects including critical customers issuesFollows existing processes and provides feedback on task/job area specific improvements

The candidate

The ideal candidate enjoys working in a multi-cultural, collaborative high-tech data science and software environment.

Besides that, you have:

Academic education (MSc+) preferably in software engineering5+ years of experience in Web-based software developmentProficient in coding computer software. Knowledge of standard processes. Capable of undertaking technical tasks beyond the original scope (UX, Testing, Architectures) under the mentorship of industry experts.Strong skills in .Net, Kakfa, MongoDB, RabbitMQ technologiesIdentifies new/additional tasks required and seeks approval/mentorship to be performed.Listen and take notes. Handles individual follow actions without promptingStrong technical experience + capacity to share and teach
