eBay, Inc. seeks Software Engineer 2 in San Jose, CA
Job Duties: Build machine learning models and data pipelines to deliver insightful and practical software solutions. Build scalable data processing pipelines using big data technologies to acquire, analyze and transform knowledge datasets. Leverage research and engineering methodologies to solve real-world, production-level problems. Work with engineers as well as other cross-functional teams to produce end-to-end production-ready solutions. Evaluate the performance of machine learning algorithms, investigate false positives/false negatives, and implement continuous improvements to the eBay software ecosystem. Identify opportunities to implement machine learning and AI in various areas of our global marketplace. Design and implement end-to-end solutions using machine learning, and own live deployments to improve both efficiency and user experience for buyers and sellers across our marketplace. Collaborate with other researchers, engineers, and product teams to develop strategic and tactical enhancements to our platforms. Conduct experiments and evaluate the performance of the models, investigate false positives/false negatives, and implement continuous improvements to the eBay ecosystem. Research, assess, recommend, and develop technologies in the context of eBay’s marketplace product requirements. Generate testing results to a community of researchers, developers, analysts, and product managers working on related technologies. Some telecommuting permitted – work may be performed from within a commutable distance.
Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field.
Special Skill Requirements:
1. Python Programming
2. Knowledge of the theories of deep learning, supervised and unsupervised learning, decision trees, support vector machines, and regression analysis.
3. Designing and developing complex machine learning and deep learning models and analyzing performance metrics using frameworks including: PyTorch, Tensorflow, Numpy, Scipy, Scikit-learn, and Matplotlib.
4. Managing, manipulating, and extracting value from vast datasets and utilizing database management systems to support data-driven decision-making and strategic initiatives using knowledge of Big Data, databases, and SQL.
5. Mathematical reasoning: statistics, linear algebra, and probability.
6. Natural language processing (NLP) and large language models (LLM)
7. Designing and productionizing code with multithreading, parallel programming, and distributed programming for machine learning operations.
Salary: $135,491.00-176,550.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
