LOCATION: 300 Industry Dr., Pittsburgh, PA 15275
TITLE: Software Engineer
HOURS: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
DUTIES: Write detailed description of user needs, program functions, and steps required to develop or modify computer programs.
Analyze current operational procedures, identify opportunities for improvement.
Adhere to the IT Software Development Life Cycle.
Review computer system capabilities, workflows, and scheduling limitations to determine if requested program or program change is possible within existing system.
Study existing information processing systems to evaluate effectiveness and develop new systems to improve production or workflow.
Prepare workflow charts and diagrams to specify in detail operations to be performed by equipment and computer programs and operations to be performed.
Implement or modify procedures and/or processes to solve business issues considering alternatives and limitations, environment and desired results.
Work on projects that may involve interfaces across diverse hardware platforms, with multiple programming languages, development tools or data access tools.
Conduct studies pertaining to development of new information systems to meet current and projected needs.
Plan and prepare technical reports, memoranda, and industrial manuals as documentation of program development.
Upgrade system and correct errors to maintain system after implementation.
Travel: Up to 5% domestic and international travel required.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or foreign degree equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field of study plus 5 years of experience in software development, information systems, or related occupation. Employer will also accept a Master’s degree or foreign degree equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field of study plus 3 years of experience in software development, information systems, or related occupation as an equivalent alternative.
Required knowledge or experience with:
Building, or maintaining, cloud-native applications;
AWS Microservices;
Java, Spring Boot, Docker, Kubernetes;
IAM Identify and Access Management
Oracle DB, Amazon DynamoDB, and PostgreSQL.
Developing Single Page Applications (SPAs) using Vue JS;
Managing/Administering observability tools like Grafana, Prometheus, Loki across multiple cloud providers;
AWS and AWS SNS/SQS for delivering messages;
Data Dog monitoring and analytics platform; and
Creating and managing Splunk dashboards, reports, and alerts.
