We are seeking a talented and motivated individual to join our Merck Data & AI Organization as a Software Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, extending, and innovating Merck's enterprise-wide data catalog solution, with a platform product mindset and will evolve it into Merck's Data Product marketplace. Your work will play a crucial role in delivering consistent value to our stakeholders in Merck's sector data offices and businesses.
Key responsibilities include designing and implementing interfaces to source systems, enhancing the functionality and reach of the data catalog. You will also assist in managing the product lifecycle of the data catalog solution, ensuring alignment with business needs and market trends.
As a key member of our team, you will drive the development of standards and best practices for the solution, focusing on system performance, security, and user management. Additionally, you will create and maintain comprehensive documentation of functional and technical aspects to ensure a robust knowledge base for the solution, supporting the foundation of Merck's Data & AI journey.
Collaboration with cross-functional teams will be essential as you ensure compliance with data governance policies and procedures throughout the development lifecycle.

Who you are:
- Minimum 2 years of strong working experience
- You have a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
- You have experience working in an agile project framework.
- A strong understanding of Data Catalog development and administration would be appreciated.
- Must have strong AWS knowledge especially around Containers (ECS/EKS), Glue, CI/CD pipelines
- You have strong hands-on Software Development experience, and love to focus on software delivery.
- You will be developing Data connectors for various data sources - structured and un-structured - such as Palantir Foundry, AWS, Snowflake.
- Candidate must have strong knowledge and hands on experience in Python, Java, or SQL.
- Good knowledge of Data Governance principles and best practices would be appreciated.
- You have strong communication and collaboration abilities with high proficiency in English coupled with the ability to work cross-functional across technology stacks if needed.
