Software Engineer
The Software Engineer exists to manage the technical delivery for IT MDC GSC & FINANCE applications. The scope includes new projects delivery, maintenance activities and continuous delivery process improvement. The incumbent collaborates closely with their peers, IT & business partners to ensure that the development team focuses on business outcomes & customer satisfaction instead of focusing on tasks. They will work on the Agile ways of working currently implemented in JTI and will take ownership on specific workstream that contains web applications specific for a business area.
As a Software Engineer in the area of Information Technology, you will:
Perform development activities, including below:
• Write clean and scalable code
• Review, update and refactor existing code
• Perform development activities related to projects/changes/incidents
Analysis and evaluation activities, including below:
• Analyse the requirements and identified key areas to be completed
• Provide technical analysis and effort estimations
Testing and deployment activities, including below:
• Perform testing activities in order to ensure proper code quality
• Support the process of automatic delivery of the solution
• Design & implement IaC in Azure cloud
Research and development activities, including below:
• Advocate consistency and standard processes in our code and architecture
• Seeking & evaluating new technologies & concepts
• Identify cases and needs with R&D practices
Train & support other team members to improve their development skills:
• Provide expert development consulting and guidance to other teams
• Support on defining software architecture for new and refactored applications
• Support on development platform workstream activities (define best practises, way of working)
Requirements:
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Applied Math, Engineering or a related field Advanced degree preferred. 5+ years experience in Information Technology, preferably in international corporations. 3+ years development experience with Microsoft Web & SQL technologies, both on-premises and Azure PaaS. 2+ years on Microsoft Azure, Agile practices and DevOps practices and tools (Azure DevOps and GIT Hub).
Additional skills required:
Any working experience with Kubernetes, exposure to SRE practice or AI hands-on implementation is considered a bonus. Deep understanding on the Microsoft Technology Stack. Ability to envision, architect and compose technical solutions using modern paradigms. Extensive experience on Azure DevOps usage & configuration (Azure Boards & Azure Pipelines in particular). Experience with Azure PaaS solutions and services (LogicApps, Azure Functions, etc). Good conceptual knowledge and hands-on experience on agile software delivery methodologies. Strong analytical skills. Ability to work in a highly dynamic and changing environment. Deep knowledge of software design and testing methodology. Full awareness of the key service delivery processes.
