What You Will Do

As a Software Engineer in the Building Construction Field Systems (BCFS) division, part of the Field Systems segment at Trimble, you will be part of a small but dynamic, high-performing engineering team that is responsible for delivering leading-edge Reality Capture solutions for Trimble's customers across multiple disciplines.

Our solutions enable customers to bring their data to life with Augmented Reality, visualising and exploring complex information with unrivalled accuracy - customer testimonials such as this and this are examples of the difference our work makes around the world. You will be responsible for delivering exciting and innovative software solutions to meet requirements defined at a high level.

This involves:

Integrating our software with industry-leading, high-precision Geospatial hardware.

Working with the latest developments in mobile device technologies, particularly Android and iOS advancements.

Demonstrating fundamental software engineering skills as part of the development process, providing engineering predictability, scheduling and the quality of products that Trimble’s users expect.

Strong communication skills to work effectively with the development team, the application domain experts, and other software developers across the broader organisation, to develop against loosely defined requirements.

Working with the project team to identify/clarify project goals, establish informal milestones, and develop a breakdown of the engineering tasks to be performed, to help deliver production-level software per regular release cycles.

Working closely with application testing engineers to improve user workflows, and analyse and resolve issues.

What Skills & Experience You Must Bring

Bachelor's degree or research in any of the relevant areas outlined above

2+ years experience in professional software development

Experience in developing mobile applications for iOS or Android

Strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to think creatively

Demonstrable understanding of sound software development practices in a shared code base and team environment

Enjoy working as part of a highly collaborative team, driven to succeed, and has a passion to continually learn and improve

Proactive attitude towards the team’s common goals of delivering innovative solutions for our customers.

What You Could Bring

Experience with or working knowledge of 3D modelling and data

Experience with integrating 3rd party software or APIs into Android or iOS applications

Experience with designing and developing Unity applications

Knowledge of graphics rendering, data structures, and multi-threaded programming

Knowledge of designing for augmented-reality or mixed-reality applications

Knowledge of sensor fusion and positioning algorithms

Knowledge of hardware communication protocols (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, USB).
