We deliver technical services and technology systems to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the De Beers Diamond value chain (from exploration to diamond recovery). Activities include marine geophysical survey, sampling, and mining, projects, engineering, technology development and maintenance. Projects include the establishment and development of a fleet of mining ships and all associated equipment. We provide specialized diamond processing and recovery technology for the De Beers Group Exploration and Mining Operations. We are the industry leader in marine mining practices resulting in the most successful and advanced marine mining equipment and operations globally.  

Job Description

This role reports into Technical Services Unit (TSU)

Develop new technical software systems, enhance and maintain current technical software systems to ensure continuous improvement in operational efficiency according business needs.  The nature of the work involves innovating and problem solving and the role involves a high degree of individual contribution and good application at both a practical as well as theory level. Travel to Namibian offshore installations for commissioning and support of software systems will be required.

Client RelationshipsMaintain stakeholder relationships by implementing and managing service level agreements 

Qualifications4-year Engineering or Computer Science Degree/ BTechBSc. or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronics, or related discipline

Additional requirements:

Minimum 5 years in Software Engineering and Systems Integration with a proven track record of object-orientated software development

Minimum 5-year experience with:Software development tools such as Visual Studio Professional and Visual Studio CodeProgramming languages: C#, ASP.NET, Angular and associated development environmentsDatabase modelling, design, implementation, programming and administration of MS SQL Serverworking with Microsoft Internet Information System (IIS)Computer network experience and knowledge of electronic communication protocols

Competencies required:

Strong analytical abilitiesCross business information systems integrationDatabase modelling, design, implementation, programming and administration MS SQL Server and other database management systemSoftware development methodologiesChange Management

Role specific Knowledge required:
