In this position...

As a Software Engineer specializing in Manufacturing, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable and reliable IT Applications for our manufacturing business partners. You will be responsible for containerizing applications using OpenShift to ensure seamless deployment and operation, developing custom manufacturing applications, and supporting existing capabilities. Your technical expertise will contribute to the success of our projects, supporting our mission to deliver high-quality software products.

Although the team currently works onsite one day/week in Dearborn, MI, onsite work of up to three days per week may be required for candidates within commuting distance of a Ford hub location.

You'll have...

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or related field or a combination of education and equivalent work experience 5+ years of experience programming with Python, Java , C++, and/or Bash.3+ years of experience with Pub/Sub and/or DataFlow3+ years of experience with databases technologies such as MSSQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, BigQuery, or BigTable.3+ years of experience using GitHub or similar source code repositories.

Even better, you may have...

Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or related fieldExperience with OpenShift or other Kubernetes distributions for containerization. Understanding of basic TCP networking concepts.Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and agile methodologies.Familiarity with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) tools such as Tekton.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.Highly self-motivated with the ability to operate with limited supervision.Results-driven with a customer-focused attitude.Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.Experience dealing with ambiguity and changing priorities.Previous experience working with manufacturing business customers.

This position is a range of salary grades 6-8.
