Northrop Grumman Defense Sector is hiring a Software Engineer-DevOps focus. You will be part of a growing team in Newport, RI working at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center that is designing, constructing, and delivering the next generation of undersea warfare Training Systems to the Fleet. Your focus will be on delivery of the Training Systems, helping to solve challenges providing the automation for integration and testing of the hardware, operating system, system configuration and software. Your primary goal will be to provide a robust continuous delivery pipeline to integrate and test engineering changes from the development teams, providing the teams fast and comprehensive feedback. You will also be responsible for providing processes and tools to improve developer experience. We are looking explicitly for candidates who align more with software engineering than operations.
Job Responsibilities:
Implement continuous delivery best practices within our software development lifecycle. Implement and support a continuous integration and continuous delivery model to streamline development, deployment and testing of multiple software baselines. Work with systems and software engineers to deploy operating systems and software builds along with supporting the development infrastructure of required tools.
Partner with engineering teams to automate every stage of the software development life cycle.Assist in designing and implementing an infrastructure to support DevOps practices in an on premises cloud environment, including but not limited to:Refine and simplify the process of delivering engineering changes to the Training Systems.Recommend and introduce tools to help achieve this goal.Proactively identify and drive optimizations and improvements to the development workflow and delivery of the Training Systems.Identify automation opportunities within configuration management, build, packaging, deployment, and testing.Design, implement, alter, and test CI/CD pipelines.Build tools to reduce the overhead and streamline building, packaging, deploying, and testing.Creating solutions to give developers fast feedback on engineering changes.Researching and delivering new and innovative methods for providing continuous delivery solutions.Develop automated test tools to verify build and deployment mechanisms.This position has no on-call requirementsBasic Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Software Engineering or a relevant STEM field in addition 2 years of relevant experience. 4-years of experience in lieu of degreeMore than two years of experience in a Software Engineer roleProficiency working in Linux environments (RHEL7/CentOS7, RHEL8/CentOS8).Proficiency working with Bash Shell ScriptingProficiency working with AnsibleExperience with at least one compiled language (e.g. C, C++, Rust, Go)Ability to obtain a secret clearancePreferred Qualifications:

Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
