About the Team

The Public Cloud Migration team at Workday is responsible for developing services, tooling, and automation to seamlessly migrate Workday customers across public and private cloud data centers. We support thousands of customers every year providing the same level of high availability, communication and resilience during their migration that customers have come to expect from Workday.

We are looking for individuals who have strong experience in developing, migrating and supporting workloads on public and private cloud platforms. You must be adaptable, flexible and able to succeed within an open collaborative peer environment.

About the Role

​Are you a hardworking Software Engineer looking for opportunities to plan, design and automate cloud migration? or an innovative Software Developer that enjoys building tools and frameworks to migrate workloads seamlessly? If yes, then read on! 

This position is responsible for developing services and automation to plan, schedule, and migrate Workday data infrastructure to AWS and GCP cloud environments. 

Focus on automation to improve availability, reliability, and scalability of Workday customer migrations. 

Serve in a rotational on-call and weekly maintenance supporting database migration infrastructure and services.

About You

Basic Qualifications

4+ year of experience in application development using modern programming languages (Golang, Python, Java) including Architecture, Design and Development.

4+ years working experience in modern DevOps technologies and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker), service deployment, monitoring and scaling.

Experience with Public Cloud Platforms AWS, GCP (preferred)

Experience developing and maintaining runbooks, API documentation, and best practices for multiple services.

2+ years relational databases and NoSQL database technologies, including MySQL, Postgres and others.

Other qualifications

Have an understanding of object-oriented design, data structures, and API development.

Knowledge of automation tools such as Terraform, Chef and Ansible.

Familiarity with implementation of CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins is a plus

Experience with logging and alerting tools/dashboarding (Grafana, LogStash, AWS Cloudwatch) is a plus 

Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.

Self-starter, highly motivated and ability to learn quickly.

Excellent team player with extraordinary written & verbal communication skills. Demonstrated experience working with a distributed team.

BS/MS degree in a computer science or related field is preferred.
