Our Avionics/Connected Aviation Solutions (CAS) – Air Traffic Solutions - Software Engineering Department (ATS-SED) has early-career opportunities for talented, new May/June 2025 graduate Software Engineers to join a team of 120+ Software Engineers that are developing and supporting our several Air Traffic Control Systems worldwide, such as: STARS, NWP, AutoTrac II, Australia, India, Hong Kong.  Our programs are safety-of-life air traffic management systems we have developed for the FAA and international equivalents for use by air traffic controllers controlling civil and military aviation. This is an opportunity to learn new COTS, tools, processes, and methodologies as you focus on improving your skills to support, design, develop, integrate, and test operational software components throughout the SW development life-cycle.

What You Will Do:

Performing/Supporting the software team to design, develop, integrate and test operational and non-operational software updates for our Air Traffic Control (ATC) Product Line software.

Updating SW process documentation and work instructions needed to meet ATS SED’s high maturity level software engineering standards and processes.

Collaborative working with the software team and leadership to support cost and schedule.

What You Will Learn:

How to develop, unit test, and deliver your software to the internal integration and test team for ultimate deployment to operational Air Traffic Control Centers for use by Air Traffic Controllers.

How to adhere to advanced software development methodologies and processes such as peer reviews, unit test coverage, development processes to add new/fix software into a large software baseline.

How to use new Agile/Scrum processes and tools such as sprint planning, story pointing, daily stand-ups, post-sprint retrospectives, Git, Jira, Linux, Bit-bucket, and other tools.

How to collaborate within a multi-disciplined scrum team working on a common goal to adhere to the sprint schedule and sprint feature content.

Qualifications You Must Have: 

Requires a Bachelor’s degree and 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).

U.S. citizenship is required - Only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under these programs/contracts.

Qualifications We Prefer:

May-June 2025 Grads.

Experience working across the full software development lifecycle with C/C++ Programming / structured programming in a Unix/Linux based development environment.

Familiarity with object-oriented technology and programming languages. Preferably Java.

Prior experience in SW testing and debugging source code; experience with ClearCase/ClearQuest, Jira, and Bit-Bucket configuration management.

Knowledge of Unix, Red Hat Linux, Python, SQL, Matlab, bash/ksh scripting.

Experience working in a collaborative team environment that requires frequent multi-level communication with other engineering domains, program management, and stakeholders.

Knowledge of agile, continuous development/continuous integration (CD/CI), and automated testing concepts. Familiar with Test Driven Development (TDD).

The salary range for this role is 55,000 USD - 107,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
