Software Engineer II, Backend - Core Services

**About the Role**
Collaborates with stakeholders to design, build, and maintain backend services and solutions that support user-facing products, downstream services, or infrastructure tools and platforms used across Uber.
**What You'll Do**
- Develop cutting-edge technologies for automated verification of images, documents, and user identities.
- Build large-scale systems to analyze similarities and relationships between entities such as users, devices, and images.
- Design verification solutions like facial recognition, voice recognition, and biometrics.
- Leverage digital information, behavior signals, and third-party verification methods to establish trust in users.
- Enable verification at critical touchpoints to ensure seamless user journeys and support compliance with risk and safety standards.
- Collaborate with multiple stakeholders globally to deliver scalable, impactful solutions.
- Integrate with business systems dealing with risk, safety, and compliance.
**Basic Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, OR 3+ years of backend software engineering experience.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Go, Java, Python, C, or C++.
- Experience shipping high-quality product features on schedule with demonstrated ownership of bugs, timelines, and on-call shifts.
- Advanced English language skills to collaborate with global teams.
**Preferred Qualifications**
- Experience with large-scale distributed systems.
- Expertise in implementing complex projects with multiple dependencies.
- Familiarity with scalability and product engineering principles.
