Software Engineer II, Customer Obsession

**About the Role**
Uber invests heavily in better customer experience with refunds and appeasements as part of our mission to keep Riders, Drivers, Couriers, and Eaters happy and safe. The Customer Obsession team is now tasked with building a new platform (Sentinel) to centralize all refund and appeasement transactions across Uber to enhance this customer experience. This ambitious initiative will bring complex challenges: ensuring consistent logging, preventing fraud, enforcing policy compliance, and leveraging data to optimize refunds—all while providing real-time insights to drive better decision-making to improve operational efficiency and in turn better experience.
**What You'll Do**
1. Design and implement new features in our RnA platform solutions at Uber.
2. Join on call rotation, driving continuous improvements on system availability, scalability, performance and efficiency.
3. Collaborate with team members, other teams, and product manager to build the RnA platform solutions and help in achieving team goals
**Basic Qualifications**
1. BS or MS in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience
2. Proficient in one of the following programming languages: Java, Go, C/C++ or similar languages Good scripting skills and ability to pick up new ones.
3. Systematic problem solving approach and knowledge of algorithms, data structures and complexity analysis
**Preferred Qualifications**
1. 2 years of experience in building large-scale distributed systems
2. 2+ years of experience with software design and shipping code for large scale production system
3. Proficient in Golang/Java
4. Experience in architectures involving multiple microservices and their interaction with web services
5. Experience designing and implementing highly scalable, robust, and fault-tolerant services
6. Experience working with very large amounts of data
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$158,000 per year - USD$175,500 per year.
For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$158,000 per year - USD$175,500 per year.
For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
