Why Box needs you:

At Platform Tools we are looking for a Software Engineer that will play a key role in API Lifecycle Project, mainly responsible for creating a consistent public API service. With having more and more micro-service driven architecture you would be responsible for creating and maintaining our API service, defining its highest standards and providing top quality solutions to keep consistency of our APIs across multiple organizations.

As a Software Engineer in this team we would expect you to work on tasks like API orchestration, incorporation of versioning and consistent API definitions. Another significant aspect of this role is to create an effective API lifecycle process involving multiple CI/CD activities and proper automation framework including contract, performance and integration tests. The role in this team gives a great opportunity to have a significant impact on the complex system and on the architecture of the most crucial API infrastructure of the Box. 

What you'll do:

Keep and define standards for our public API service Closely cooperate with other teams to design and decide on API inclusion into the system Solve topics and add new features related to API lifecycle Implement multiple top quality solutions in public API service like orchestration, versioning, error handling Implement and maintain CI/CD solution for the project working smoothly with multiple tests ensuring top quality of the system Collaborate with Product Management to help refine requirements and break down complex projects into meaningful, deliverable units Work collaboratively with other engineers, team members, across teams, and with partner organizations Play a role in developing and fostering Box culture in the newly created office Participate in our on-call rotation, available at all times while on-call to help respond to and triage any issues that arise.

Who you are:

You have 2+ years of professional software development experience You have an experience in one of the following languages: TypeScript/JavaScript (preferred), Java You have experience in work with API design, documenting and testing You have good understanding of REST You have an understanding of CI/CD process Strong ownership and passion in driving challenging goals involving multiple parties Team-centric mindset - demonstrated ability working well in a collaborative environment You possess strong communication skills Demonstrating a willingness to take on challenges and design solutions

Preferred skills:

You have some experience following Agile Methodologies / working on a Scrum team Experience with microservice infrastructure

Percentage of Time Spent:

45% coding 25% designing 10% documentation 10% bug fixes 10% meetings

Methodology:

Agile management - Scrum Issue tracking tool - Jira Knowledge repository - GitHub, Confluence Code reviews - GitHub Version control system - GitHub
