Software Engineer II
Microsoft Azure Edge + Platform (E+P) is a globally distributed team of engineers, architects, program managers, product managers, business program managers, business administrators, user experience researchers and designers who are responsible for the platform for Microsoft and for delivering Microsoft’s edge vision. Azure Edge + Platform engineering team is looking to hire talented and highly motivated Software Engineers to be on point for designing and implementing the next-generation Edge + Platform products and services for customers across the globe. This person will need to be strong technically, with in-depth knowledge and experience in analyzing data and requirements, designing, developing and releasing services or products to end users. **Responsibilities** You will be responsible for designing and implementing high-performance components or services for Azure Edge and Devices. As part of this team, you will lead the transformation of initial concepts into concrete designs and oversee their implementation to realize the vision. In close collaboration with Azure partners and customers, you will assess requirements, establish best practices, influence our designs, and address production issues. Your responsibilities will also encompass the design, implementation, and management of complex big data and high-availability distributed services. **Qualifications** **Required/Minimum Qualifications:** + Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering , or related field AND 2+ years experience in business analytics, data science, software development, data modeling or data engineering work + OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field AND 1+ year(s) experience in business analytics, data science, software development, or data engineering work + OR equivalent experience. + 2+ years experience in programming, design and problem-solving skills, with a bias for quality and engineering excellence **Other Requirements:** + Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. **Preferred Qualifications:** + Experience developing cross-platform software + Demonstrated knowledge of modern software development and/or big data technologies. + Experience in developing and designing distributed systems + Experience in implementing large scale, low latency and high-quality distributed systems. + Knowledge of Microsoft Azure, AWS or similar cloud computing platforms. + Experience creating, developing, delivering, deploying, maintaining online services. + Expertise and knowledge in Agile engineering practices (Continuous Integration, TDD) Data Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
