**About the role:** 1. Learn the internals of big data infrastructure at Uber scale. 2. Work in well-scoped areas including Caching and Hybrid Data storage. Implementing related technical solutions for key strategic problems in the space of supporting million analytics jobs daily. 3. Deep dive into specific technologies, understanding related source code and configuration. 4. Fine-tune performance of these systems to improve overall performance and reliability. 5. Find and build solutions to innovate the Cloud usage, striking the balance of performance and efficiency 6. Work with other team members to solve technical problems. **About the Team:** This is an exciting opportunity to work with one of the largest Batch Processing Storage systems in the industry, supporting mission-critical operations and driving data-driven decision-making. Data Storage team leverages HDFS to support our big data world, hosting ~2EB data, composed of thousands of hosts. Many in house new technologies were developed over years to support scaling, performance and operational challenges. In the new era of migration to Cloud, this team will also manage GCS and its connectors in various languages. Bridging the performance gap and fixing issues to successfully support all batch use cases. **Minimum qualifications:** + Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field **OR** 1-year full-time Software Engineering work experience, **WHICH INCLUDES** 1-year total technical software engineering experience in one or more of the following areas: + Programming language (e.g. C, C++, Java, Python, or Go) + Note the 1-year total of specialized software engineering experience may have been gained through education and full-time work experience, additional training, coursework, research, or similar (OR some combination of these). The year of specialized experience is not necessarily in addition to the years of Education & full-time work experience indicated. **Technical skills:** Preferred: + Experience with large scale distributed systems, big data processing pipelines etc + Experience with network, data transfer, performance optimization etc + Experience with public Cloud technologies, preferably Object Store i.e. AWS S3/GCS/Azure etc + Experience with Machine Learning infrastructure At Uber, we ignite opportunity by setting the world in motion.
