Software Engineer II (Remote Eligible in Bulgaria)

As a global leader in Collaborative Work Management and with a market cap of $10bn we’ve experienced incredible growth in EMEA, expanding from one team and three engineers in 2018 to five teams with over 50 engineers by 2023. As we expand into Bulgaria and build out a new operation, we're searching for talented and motivated Software Engineers who are passionate about continuous learning and eager to grow along with us in a fast-paced, innovative environment. This position will be employed through a third-party employer of record initially, with the intention to convert to full time employment directly with Smartsheet once our entity in Bulgaria is established (in H1 2025). You will report to an engineering leader located in Bulgaria.

You Will:

Contribute to the entire development lifecycle, from concept to release, ensuring quality and scalability at every step. Participate in system architecture discussions to design robust, high-availability applications. Implement new features and enhance existing ones to meet evolving product needs. Maintain and develop service APIs that serve millions of users. Collaborate with systems engineers to troubleshoot and debug infrastructure challenges. Participate in all phases of quality assurance and defect resolution to maintain high system reliability. Work across multiple disciplines such as front-end, back-end, test automation, and infrastructure, broadening your technical expertise. Perform other duties as assigned.

You Have:

Experience with programming languages such as Golang, Java, C, or Node.js. Familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React.js) for front-end roles. Understanding of Object-Oriented Design and Microservice Architecture. Experience building scalable, high-availability applications. Comfort working in Linux command line environments. A degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience.

Nice to Have:

Experience with DynamoDB, MySQL, or other relational and non-relational databases. Familiarity with AWS and Docker, or AWS certifications (AWS Developer, AWS Solution Architect). Experience with Kubernetes or service orchestration tools like HashiCorp. Knowledge of Linux debugging commands like tcpdump or strace
