As a Software Engineer III  at JPMorgan Chase within  Commercial & Investment Bank  Payments Technology Team, you serve as an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver data collection, storage, access, and analytics in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

You will work across a wide range of products and technologies.  You will have two focuses:  Primarily, you will be building customer facing User Experiences using various JavaScript Single Page App technologies like React and Angular. Secondarily, you will work across the tech stack by building micro services and storing/sharing data via technologies like Cassandra and Kafka. 

Job Responsibilities:

Design and write code for web/mobile using JavaScript, HTML and CSS that scale to high-volume production qualityDesign and implement secure and robust REST APIs using technologies such as Java Spring Boot or Spring MVCParticipate in design sessions with fellow programmers, business analysts, and other team members to analyze business requirements and outline the proposed IT solutionPrototype creative solutions quickly, and be able to collaborate with others in crafting and implementing your technical visionContribute and collaborate in creation and consumption of open, standards-based solutions, while working with existing JPMorgan technologies and infrastructureIdentify opportunities for process and tool improvements and drive those from concept to implementation Execute software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problemsGather, analyze, synthesize, and develop visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systemsProactively identify hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architectureContribute to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologiesAdd to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

 

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills 

Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experienceExperience with HTML5, CSS, OO JavaScript, JavaScript Frameworks like Angular or React on enterprise sitesExperience deploying applications to the cloud using AWS, Azure, or CloudFoundryExcellent understanding of development concepts and SDLC methodologiesStrong knowledge of OOP concepts, design patterns, and continuous delivery principlesStrong customer focus, excellent problem solving, and analytical skillsAbility to work independently, plan, organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a rapidly changing environmentHands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stabilityOverall knowledge of the Software Development Life CycleDemonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline

 

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills 

Prefer experience writing enterprise level REST/SOAP services with Java Spring MVC or Spring Boot, ASP.Net, or NodeJSFamiliarity with messaging frameworks like MQ and Kafka
