Job Description Summary:
The Software Engineer in Test-II (SDET) keeps a keen eye on customer commitments and work collaboratively with engineering counterparts to meet customer commitments. The individual must build productive working relationships and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet customer quality specifications. The Software Engineer in Test is responsible for the design, implementation, and documentation of code automation. The individual works on problem analysis and exercises judgment based on situations and data. Job Overview:We are looking for a passionate Software Engineer in Test-II (SDET) to join our established Quality Assurance Group working in a team that will focus on the execution of automated tests across a multitude of platforms and technology.Applicants will gain satisfaction from automation at scale, controlling execution of tests across a large number of platforms and driving improvements in reliability and performance of a critical part of product rollouts. You will have an excellent attitude towards work and should be able to communicate with colleagues from other countries as part of a wider located team.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Management of planned and unplanned test runs through the execution of automated tests across multitude of Windows and Unix platforms1st line investigation of test failuresRaising formal defect reports and working with development teams to further diagnose and resolve issuesWorks under limited direction of a manager and/or team lead to implement software enhancements, correct defects and/or create new products Working closely with Engineering teams to improve our internal systemsDocuments and communicates on technical topics Monitoring load of test machines to ensure tests run reliablyReporting of test resultsDriving forward automation improvementsRequired Skills and Experience Demonstrated competence in Scripting (Shell, Batch, VBScript) / Programming (C#, Java, Perl) and an understanding of programming principlesExposure to multiple platforms Windows / Windows Server / UNIX / Linux / MainframeFamiliar with Virtual Environments, CI systems and source control systems (SVN / VMWare)Experience with large scale automated test systems and frameworksA logical and analytical approach to problem solving and pays close attention to detail.Beneficial Skills and ExperienceProactive communicator, not afraid to ‘stick their neck out’ to effectively work with development teams globally.Remote machine administration and troubleshooting (Windows / Unix)Ability to resolve or escalate any issues found and be proactive and committed to their resolutionAble to collaborate in an agile team and be accountable for their workCan be relied upon to follow defined plans and processesPersonal AttributesProactive, hardworking team player with a will to succeed as a teamPresent, responsive, genuine and motivated to support the teamExcellent communicator (verbal & written) and natural command of English languageOrganized and methodical, ability to keep track of technical work and steps taken while dealing with other numerous tasksUpholds the Rocket Software values of love, empathy, humility and trustEducation: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or Information Technology
