Software Engineer Intern, Business Support Systems

What you'll do The Business Support Systems team is focused on providing APIs and automation for creating and storing customer information, product offerings, fulfillment of orders, and billing. As a member of this team, you will build up a vast knowledge in software development, requirements gathering, testing, automation, and deployment of useful features to internal and external customers across multiple business units, including our government and maritime businesses. The day-to-day This team is currently focused on enabling new business units to take advantage of the automation and processes the BSS team has provided to our Global Fixed Broadband business. In this position you will be an integral part of migrating data from the less automated and more manual data stores used in the past, into the BSS solution. You’ll need to understand the data and how it’s used, and create the scripts, APIs, and/or UI tools for sanitizing and loading data. Your responsibilities will range from working with senior developers and other stakeholders to design and develop automated tooling, to testing the solution and making sure it will work from end to end. Internship Program Details: You will work onsite at a Viasat office location for the duration of your 12-13 week internship. Viasat embraces a flexible work environment and onsite/hybrid work is determined by individual roles and teams. Housing and relocation assistance are available to interns pending eligibility. To ensure equity across our intern population, intern compensation is pre-determined based on a variety of factors including: role, location, and final graduation date. Intern compensation is non-negotiable. What you'll need Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Math & Computer Science, and/or a related field To be eligible for this position your final graduation date must fall between December 2025 and June 2026 Experience with programming languages/tools such as: Javascript, Python, Java, C/C++, NodeJS, Git, Github Actions, and/or Bash US citizenship is required for this position Internship Dates: You must be available for the full duration of the 12-13 week internship program. Note limited exceptions may be granted. Viasat offers two options based on semester and quarter academic calendars: Cohort 1: May 20th, 2025 – August 15th, 2025 Cohort 2: June 17th, 2025 – September 12th, 2025 What will help you on the job Previous internship experience in a software development and/or test related area Experience with development tools such as: Amazon Web Services, Artifactory, Jenkins, DataDog, Grafana, Kibana, Kubernetes, Docker, Linux Great communication skills and a willingness to learn Salary range $20.91 - $56.97 / hourly. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $25.96 - $67.07/ hourly At Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience. Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
