The Analysis Innovation Department within MITRE’s Intelligence Center develops creative solutions to evolve complex, mission essential capabilities, bringing expertise in developing analytic solutions, data science, and workforce and business process maturation. We define, architect, design and prototype creative ways to integrate and fuse all-source intelligence and new sources of data to empower analysts and inform the programmatic and technical direction of new and existing programs. 

The Department develops unique ways to receive and integrate all-source intelligence, increase sharing of tactical and strategic intelligence, support situational awareness and specific missions, better integrate intelligence and operations, and create products that are more useful customers that include the Combatant Command J2s. 

The successful candidate will be passionate about working with the USCENTCOM, US SOUTHCOM and USSOCOM Combatant Command J2s to understand their Foundational Military Intelligence needs, understand and communicate current capabilities and shortfalls, and what it would take to design and develop capabilities to address shortfalls. 

The successful candidate will have experience working enterprise solutions for USCENTCOM, USSOCOM or USSOUTHCOMand experience working in sponsor spaces. Familiarity with Intelligence Support to Joint Operations and technical systems engineering experience is preferred.

Roles and Responsibilities:

As a Systems Engineer you will be a member of an interdisciplinary team and may participate in some of the following activities:

Provide research in high technical areas to include cloud computing, information security, object management services, systems integration and interoperability, and system modernization practicesIdentify opportunities and develop solutions to integrate Combatant Command Capabilities with Enterprise capabilities such as Machine-assisted Analytic Rapid-repository System (MARS)Develop and coordinate system migration planning and transition activitiesAnalyze identified security risks and coordinate the development of plan of action and milestone (POA&M) responsesReview and provide recommendations on improving system documentationProvide technical services advice and guidanceCoordinate IT infrastructure, system, and documentation configuration management activitiesProvide recommendations on change management process and detailsUse qualitative and quantitative research methods to collect and analyze data to find trends, themes, and similaritiesDevelop presentations that translate and communicate assessment findings to inform impactful decisionsContribute to the development of products, such as concept of operations and analysis of alternativesResearch leading practices, methodologies, tools, and techniquesEngaging with DoD/IC operational stakeholders regularly, communicating sponsor and stakeholder objectives and needs, and building proper relationships to further the systems integration activities in both sponsor and stakeholder locations and projectsThis role requires strong communication and coordination in Tampa with US CENTCOM and USSOCOM J2 staff, as well as coordination with USSOUTHCOM.  The preferred candidate is based in Tampa. Candidates that are not based in Tampa may be considered if they demonstrate exceptional knowledge of Combatant Command J2 needs, exceptional technical and communication skills, access to DIA TS/SCI accounts and a willingness to travel.

Basic Qualifications

Requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 5 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience5 years of experience working with government sponsorsIn-depth knowledge of interface definitions, architecture, requirements and systems engineering/interoperability practicesActive US Government TS/SCI clearance and willingness and ability to pass government polygraphExperience translating technical concepts to leadership, stakeholders and sponsorsThis position requires strong, consistent interaction with Tampa based government seniors. Ability to travel up to 10% timeThis position has an on-site requirement of 5 days a week on-site.

Salary compensation range and midpoint:

$141,000 - $176,000 - $211,000 Annual
