Summary

The Director, Software Engineering: The people leader will be responsible for leading and managing the team developing the firmware for Celestica products, ensuring timely delivery and maintaining the highest quality standards. The manager will be playing a key role in driving the software development processes (such as Agile, Scrum, etc.) and complying with the product life cycle development (phase/gate deliverables). The candidates with prior experience in firmware development, with strong leadership, excellent planning and communication skill are suitable for this position.

Detailed Description

Performs the below key tasks, but not limited to:

Lead a large sized team of Firmware development managers and leads for Celestica's products
Coach and mentor, the team in understanding their strengths and weakness
Take the lead in project planning and scheduling
Take responsibility for non-technical elements of an engineering project (people, financials etc.).
Review and interpret customer requirements/specifications and may act as primary customer contact.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware design, other software teams, program and product management
Set yearly plans and goals for the team, give direction on expected performance, provide regular performance evaluations and ongoing feedback.
Accountable for all business objectives and for key performance indicators.
Provide recommendations for continuous improvement
Elevae team technical skills and consistently apply best practices
Keep up to date with  industry knowledge and regulations

Project Management - Ability to manage/lead complex engineering projects. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously

Leadership - Demonstrate "People & Team Leadership Behaviors" as per Celestica Leadership Imperatives.

Financial Acumen / Business Planning - Ability to create financial plans for your projects, align them internally with your line of management and other functions and externally if needed

Physical Demands Typical Experience

20+ years of relevant experience with 10 years of people management experience is preferable

Typical Education

Bachelor Degree in Engineering
