About the Role
As a Software Engineering Lead, you will manage and guide a diverse team of engineers, working closely with management and other stakeholders to ensure the success of your team and its deliverables. This role requires strong technical skills, good communication, and great leadership abilities, with responsibilities including technical and administrative decision-making, performance and code reviews, mentorship, and strategic direction. The effort spread is 30% implementation, 20% project management, and 50% team management and mentorship, with a focus on fostering a productive, growth-oriented, and collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
• Releasing management inclusive of sign off for a well-formed test plan, rollback plan, communication plan, and release notes.
• Overseeing resource management inclusive of administrative duties such as time and attendance, resource planning, performance management, 1 on 1 chats and career development.
• Performing project management duties such as agile ceremonies, backlog refinement, and business engagement.
• Providing technical leadership in solution design, technical implementation, output quality and coaching of team members in accordance with software engineering best practices and design patterns.
• Owning the team strategy for futureproofing, maintenance and improvement including technical, operational, and resource level plans.
• Supporting management of queries escalated to the development team.
• Implementing (writing code, automation tests and devops activities), complex technical specifications and review new features, enhancements, and bug fixes.
Requirements
• Have a BSC degree in computer science or equivalent.
• Have at least 3 years serving as a senior software engineer or solutions architect, mentoring intermediate and or junior software engineers.
• Have at least 7 years professional experience in the technology sector.
• Be proficient in SQL and data manipulation including dot net, C#, Angular, GIT, and Azure pipelines (preferred).
• Have a good understanding of SOLID principles and industry best practices.
• Have good communication skills, written, verbal and presentation skills including communicating complex content to a range of audiences.
• Be emotionally intelligence with a good understanding of team dynamics.
• Have established organizational, planning, and change management skills.
• Be able to uphold ethics and promote a culture of honesty, accountability and general camaraderie.
