About the RoleThe Software Engineering Manager is an experienced team leader managing a team of engineers responsible for the development and maintenance of Business Wire’s customer facing applications, including the BW order submission platform. The team is responsible for maintenance and the development of new functionality. In addition, the team drives projects to fully modernize BW’s system architecture, which involves a complete redesign of legacy application architecture and the transition to a modern cloud based technology stack, new database platform, development of new REST APIs, and optimization of the systems to ensure their long-term operational reliability and performance.What You'll Do Lead a team of passionate software engineers that value ownership, action, and impactDevelop a culture of engineering excellence and operational efficiencyGrow, educate, and retain an effective team in an Agile environmentEnsure your team ships products consistently at high quality and velocityPossess excellent situational awareness by participating in design and hands-on development activitiesBe hands-on in technical architecture and reviews, provide technical leadership to the engineers, and be accountable for the technical decisions made on the teamPartner closely with individual contributors and cross-functional leaders to help plan and lead the team’s projectsWhat You'll Need6+ years of experience in hands-on software engineering 3+ years of experience in building and managing high-performing engineering teamsHands-on experience with building distributed systems and APIs as well as working knowledge of AWS and cloud-based SaaS applicationsAbility to lead complex technical initiativesExperience working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment Proficiency in recruiting, organizing, and motivating teamsBusiness Wire will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position.#LI-DNI
What We OfferThe base salary range for this position is $185K to $200K/year. Offered salary will be determined by several factors, including but not limited to: applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with geographic market data. Business Wire reserves the right to modify this salary range at any time.
