The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for a Software Engineering Manager to join us in EMEA. In this role, you will manage a team of highly technical associates who are responsible for developing migration tools for our enterprise customers. You'll work with your peers around the world to guide initiatives and continually develop technical team members. We will need you to have experience managing teams in a technological, fast-paced environment, combined with a passion for improving the customer experience.
What you will do:
Manage a team of engineers developing and testing the Migration Toolkit for VirtualizationOversee the day-to-day activities of technical teams, consisting of junior to senior technical engineersPlay an active role in container and virtualization-related projects and communities like Forklift, Red Hat OpenShift, and KubeVirtCreate and guide new feature development; oversee contributions to open source projects in Golang, Ansible and Python Work with the quality engineer team members to ensure that projects are tested correctlyWork with our support organization who manage customer escalations with highly technical support requests from enterprise customersPromote and guide continuous professional and personal development of team membersImprove knowledge management, customer-centric support, and issue problem solvingCooperate daily with peer teams and groups within Red Hat to prioritize customer requestsProvide leadership in problem solving, including proposing and discussing fixes, advising and educating customersReceive assignments in the form of objectives and define how to use resources to meet schedules and goalsProvide guidance to associates within the established company policies; recommend changes to policies and proceduresMaintain knowledge of current technologies and business trends to provide appropriate evaluation of each customer issueFollow processes and operational policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutionsWhat you will bring:
Previous experience as a technical people manager, in a technology-oriented company or departmentGood written and verbal English communication skillsProven ability to learn and apply new skills and processes quickly, and coach and teach othersAbility to identify potential, develop people, and motivate and build a teamSolid leadership and coaching skillsBachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent working experienceThe following are considered a plus:
Experience working in a Linux environment, GitHub with at least one language like Golang, Python or C/C++Knowledge of support systems and toolsAppreciation and passion for open source softwareExperience with a container ecosystem like Docker, Kubernetes, or Red Hat OpenShift.Experience with microservices architectures and concepts including scale, APIs, versioning, monitoring, etc.Knowledge of Virtualization technologies such as KVM and virt-v2v.User-level familiarity with vSphere, RHV, or OpenStackAbility to examine various technological areas deeply and deliver solutionsDebugging skillsAbout Red Hat
