Title: Software Load Integrator Location: Johnson Space Center, TX Clearance: National Agency Check and Inquiries (NACI) with ability to obtain a Security Clearance Citizenship Requirement: US Req #: 3819 Salary: $95K-$110K Summary: Craig Technologies has an opening for a Software Load Integrator position at Johnson Space Center, TX. Detailed Description: Candidate will function as the Orion Portable Computing Device (PCD) Load Integrator, within the CO24 Exploration Software for Crew Operations (ESCO) group, on a full-time basis. Candidate will be responsible for maintaining and updating the baseline processes, supporting configuration management system processes, maintaining and updating lab equipment necessary for creating a load image for the Orion PCD, testing that load image in a variety of circumstances, and then providing support for the loading of that image onto customer devices, including labs and training facilities and loading the for-flight devices. Candidate will also work directly with other software engineering teams to incorporate applications, drivers, and settings for correct use of their applications in a flight environment. Finally, selectee will work with crewmembers to fine tune settings, such as OS, and incorporate required crew personal applications and data for their use on the Orion PCD and ensure their correct deployment for flight. The ideal candidate must be passionate about the application of IT to spaceflight, highly organized, be a strong advocate for the crew user, a constant proponent of configuration management / continuous improvement, and adaptable. Duties To Include: • Orion PCD Software Load Integration o Creation, coordination, and documentation of processes for use in creating, distributing, and managing Orion PCD Software Load Images o Coordinate confidential processes to receive crew personal content (eBooks, music files, etc.) for use while on deep space missions o Develop and implement a plan to procure required hardware and software necessary to accomplish the load image integration and configuration management o Participate in the creation, coordination, documentation, and execution of processes for use in the Configuration Management of the load contents o Evaluate and assess all requests for application integration onto the crew device • PCD Software Load Testing o Participate in creation of PCD Software Load Image Testing Plan Objectives o Creation and management of PCD Software Load Testing Procedures and Scripts o Capture and document testing results and report into proper reporting mechanisms • Lab Management o Support in the setup and/or configuration of hardware/software required to simulate Orion PCD onboard network environment for testing purposes o Support in the scheduling and coordination of lab for testing by users and/or set up systems to do so • Load Creation / Deployment o Creation of actual software load images for PCD o Perform loading of PCD Software Loads on devices for internal lab and flight and create procedures to do so o Provide support to stakeholders during their deployment of the load in training facilities and create procedures to do so o Implement specific PCD Windows management schemes, including local client backup methods, storage space controls, patching and hot fixes o Create efficient ways to perform PCD Software Load tasks remotely • Documentation o Create and maintain documentation for PCD Software Loads including software manifests, build records, automated reports, etc. o Review and provide comments for documentation external to team associated to project o Participate in the development/review of documents as necessary, including Work Instructions (WIs), general team/internal documents, procedures, etc. • Training o Must be willing and capable to train additional team members o Will support training facilities • Testing o Will support development and integration testing of Orion PCD Software Loads with Orion Utility Network Lab and Integrated Testing Labs in Denver, Colorado, as well as other testing facilities • Support o Will work as part of Orion Mission Evaluation Room (MER) to support the resolution of PCD related technical problems, possibly on nights and weekends, during Orion missions to support astronauts and flight controllers • Other duties as deemed necessary by the CO24 Group Lead or Orion PCD Software Project Lead • Support the Orion PCD Software Project Lead in boards, panels, and presentations • Meeting support – Participate in meetings as a representative of the ESCO Team Required Experience / Skills: • Practical knowledge of Microsoft Operating System deployment practices, such as Microsoft Deployment Tool • Knowledge of load image capture and deployment methods • Experience in implementing common network practices, including DNS / DHCP • Experience in configuring and using load image configuration management systems • Experience creating process documentation • Experience creating custom deploy scripts/batch files • Strong background in load image or software testing • Experience implementing common client IT Security practices • Must be willing/able to teach/mentor interns or new hires as necessary • Must possess excellent communication and presentation skills • Must be able to coordinate with customers with a variety of backgrounds, including SMEs, astronauts, management, and developers • Must have demonstrated ability to generate valid requirements and Ops Concepts • Must possess strong organizational skills • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a dynamic environment • Knowledge, flexibility, and creativity to create a Windows client solution in a non-standard environment: no servers, internet access, AD, or group policy • Education/Experience Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or other technically related area, plus 5-10 years relevant experience Desired Experience/Skills: • Knowledge of Virtual Machines • ISS or Orion program experience is desired • Experience with Agile Development desired Travel: • Position involves occasional travel (<10%) Craig Technologies is an EEO Employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetics, or any other non-job-related protected status.
