The Flight and Ground Systems Division within the Space Systems Department at MSFC desires a Software Operations Analyst. The Software Operations analyst will be responsible in supporting various projects within the Flight and Ground Software division. This position requires versatile skillset of Systems Engineering focused on Data Analysis Architecture, Software Design and Development, and Data Management.
Duties\:
Develop operational data products, including I-load data sets extracted from the database.Provide operational console support for real-time operations as well as simulation operations, including test and flight usage of I-load data sets.
Perform additional duties as authorized to ensure the full operational capability of the I-load dataset maintenance and utilization.
Work with Flight Software (FSW) tools and data analysis software (e.g., ILOADPGM, DASS Suite, PCF Suite, etc.).
Provide input and feedback to development teams for the operational tools’ enhancements.
Coordinate and integrate the development and review of FSW Operational Notes across SLS departments.

A degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or STEM related field is required. A degree from an Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) certified institution is preferred. Typically, educational requirement is a BS with 0 - 5 years of experience.
Required skills include the understanding of\:
Data Collection and Preparation (Gathering , Cleaning, Organization, Identifying errors, and formatting of Data.)Data Analysis and Interpretation (Structuring data, use of Excel, basic analysis approaches)
Reporting (Creating charts, preparing reports, and data insights)
Data Management (Maintaining and updating data systems, documenting processes)
Software Development and Testing practices, knowledge of SharePoint, JIRA, DOORS or DNG, Python is a plus.
Flight operations, mission control, or ground support is a plus.
Additional required skills\:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools.Collaboration (Work closely with teams, support ad-hoc requests, and provide feedback from time-to-time) Ability to exhibit strong communication, technical writing, and presentation skills.
Essential Functions
Work Environment\:
Office environment. Requires ability to provide clear, concise, accurate and timely communication, both verbally and in writing (100%). Requires ability to interact professionally with co-workers, management, and client (100%). Requires travel in the domestic USA (<10%).
Physical Requirements\:
Requires sitting for extended periods of time in meetings with peers, management, and with our client at NASA facilities to discuss technical issues (10%). Also, requires sitting for extended periods of time at a desk to write reports and perform engineering tasks (80%). Requires ability to use stairs or elevators for access between floors and multiple buildings at NASA and our facilities (10%).
Equipment and Machines\:
Requires ability to operate a personal computer, a telephone, fax machine, copier, calculator, and other general office equipment (100%).
Attendance\:
Normal workday 7\:30-4\:30, Monday thru Friday. Minimal overtime may be required (10%) to meet schedule milestones and to support technical demands of the job. Regular attendance is a necessity, and adequate arrangements for delegating duties during absences are required.
Other Essential Functions\:
The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and to make rational decisions, and to exercise good judgment is essential (100%). Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
