Software Robotics Engineer
Job Description We are currently looking for a Junior Software Engineer with experience in C or C++ coding to join our team. The role involves working with RTOS in embedded Linux, developing real-time video processing, and handling development related to controls. Experience with the Robot Operating System (ROS) is highly desirable. This position provides an exciting opportunity to work on mobile robot systems used in hazardous duty operations by military organizations, law enforcement agencies, nuclear facilities, and research laboratories. Responsibilities + Develop software using C or C++ for embedded Linux systems. + Work with RTOS for real-time video processing and control development. + Collaborate with the team to design, implement, and test software solutions for robotic systems. + Debug and troubleshoot embedded code, focusing on real-time systems and data buses. + Participate in code reviews, testing, documentation, and release processes. + Utilize code repositories such as git for version control. + Engage with robotics simulators and RC vehicles as needed. Essential Skills + Proficiency in C/C++, Python, and Qt/QML. + Experience with ROS, Linux, and embedded code concepts. + Strong debugging and systems troubleshooting skills. + Familiarity with code repository concepts using git. + Comfortable with code review, testing, documentation, and the release process. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with FIRST robotics, robotics simulators, and RC vehicles. + Blender experience is a plus. + A degree with a GPA above 3.0 is required + Passion for engineering and robotics, with relevant hobbies or activities. + A portfolio or GitHub repository showcasing previous work is desirable. Work Environment The position offers a hybrid work environment with flexible scheduling. While some days require on-site presence to work directly on the mobile robots, there is flexibility in the hours of arrival and departure. The team is experienced and tenured, with a supportive manager and a focus on innovative, impactful work that enhances the safety of police, firefighters, and other emergency personnel. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
