Software Solutions Engineer

The PacStar Software Solutions Engineer works closely with the software and systems engineering teams on enhancing various network management products focused on the unique needs of military and incident response networks. This includes interfacing with customers to understand requirements and translating those into actionable tasks for the development team, assisting in the design and development of software capabilities, and ensuring the team has the appropriate environment to create and test these capabilities.

You will additionally assist the software product management team in prioritizing tasks, tracking projects, and aligning efforts to business strategies.

Your Challenge:

Work with internal and external customers to understand their needs

Be the customer advocate in internal planning and design sessions

Help build the product roadmap and decide which features are needed next

Create and flesh out feature stories so they are clear and actionable

Obtain collateral from the customer based on developer needs

Travel to customer locations to obtain real-world feedback

Configure and maintain lab networks for use by the software development team

Create scripts for feature prototypes and automated testing

Help configure complex network systems for specific customer needs

Help write, review, and execute customer acceptance tests

Create reports and presentations for team, executive, and customer review

Other duties as assigned

What you bring:

10+ years of experience in software or network engineering

Experience with router, switch, and firewall configuration

Experience in the U.S. DoD environment, preferably the U.S. Army

Understand Agile software development processes

Experience with development process tools like Visual Studio, JIRA, and Git.

Ability to work with cross-functional teams to deliver on a common goal

Outstanding communication, presentation and leadership skills

Excellent organizational and time management skills

Able to travel to customer sites with little notice

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Accuracy and attention to detail is a must

Must be able to self-organize workloads and manage all deadlines
