MITRE's N211 Army Mission Command Networks team is currently seeking a Software Systems Engineer with a background in Cyber security to get involved with the Unified Network Operations (UNO) program. UNO plays a crucial role in the Army’s digital transformation; UNO supports the service’s vision of integrating and converging enterprise and tactical networks. This position is an exciting role that will assist in consolidating and streamlines existing network operation tools into a simplified user-friendly capability, empowering Signal Soldiers to efficiently plan, manage, monitor, configure, and secure the Army’s unified network by enhancing network security, resiliency, and data exchange. Future capabilities will further streamline strategic and installation network operations, emphasizing identity credentialing and access management (ICAM) for a zero-trust security architecture. UNO is foundational to Army network modernization efforts that enhance network security, resiliency and data exchange, and to the service’s unified network vision — which integrates and converges enterprise and tactical networks as found in the Army Data Plan and Unified Network Plan.
The candidate will engage with stakeholders to analyze operational requirements, address communications network challenges, apply sound technology solutions, and advance the state of communications and networking to benefit the sponsor’s mission. This role in is support of Program Executive Office (PEO) Command Control Communications Tactical (C3T). PEO C3T is supporting the Army’s network transformation strategy with a commitment to deliver network capability that ensures the Army, with Unified Action partners win against any adversary in the most challenging contested and congested electromagnetic spectrum and cyber environments.
Responsibilities:
Provide SME efforts that will streamline strategic and installation network operations and enhance security and data exchange through identity credentialing and access management, or ICAM. Recommend strategies to integrate network operation to a singular simple intuitive user interface, where Soldiers will be able to conduct endpoint management at a single device that can reach out to all their unit’s different network nodes, to plan, monitor and defend the network in a more effective and efficient wayEngage with stakeholders to analyze operational requirements, address network operations challenge and recommend sound technology solutions, and advance the state of NetOps to benefit the sponsor’s missionKeep abreast of industry trends and evaluate commercial technologiesProvide recommendations on strategies that will integrate existing network operation tools into a simplified user-friendly capability, enabling Signal Soldiers to plan, manage, monitor, configure, and secure the Army’s Unified Network more efficiently.Lead and direct trade studies and technical assessmentsBasic Qualifications:
Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experiencePossess and maintain a minimum of Secret level security clearance.Understanding of system development life cycles (SDLC) and system architecture.Ability to analyze requirements, design solutions, and manage system integration.Familiarity with modeling and simulation tools for system performance evaluation.Familiarity system design and acquisition with background in with Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA).Experience with use of open standards, modular components, and interoperability.Knowledge of an agile software development processes for continuous updatesKnowledge of systems engineering practices and testing including requirements development, analysis & traceability, and requirements managementAbility to write technical reports and/or presenting briefings of analysis, findings, and recommendations to Government sponsorsExcellent communications skills and ability to present highly technical material to a diverse audienceExperience working collaboratively in a team environmentThis position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-sitePreferred Qualifications:
