Job Profile Summary

The Software Technical Analyst is responsible for creating and maintaining automation solutions for the areas of focus using low code/no code technology. The role interacts with both technology and business operations teams to build and configure efficient, scalable automations using recommended automation tools and coding standards. The role will develop, implement, and maintain solutions/automations/robots (digital workforce assets) with the highest positive impact. The role will also facilitate trainings and mentor junior developers.

Job Responsibilities:

Design, develop, test, deploy, and integrate new, modified and/or enhanced automations using prescribed tools and technologies

Assist clients in evaluating manual operations to help identify performance improvement opportunities within their day-to-day processes

Assist with resolution of issues escalated by support analysts

Create and maintain script libraries and software documentation

Monitor and report persistent issues to enable Technical Product Owner to manage vendor relationships

Develop training materials, processes, and flows to optimize the use of existing software/platforms

Plan and participate in deployment of automation components in the enterprise architecture

Participate in testing activities, including integration testing, end-to-end (business process) testing and user acceptance testing

Participate in the problem identification/error resolution process, including tracking, repairing, and reporting defects

Provide technical direction on design considerations for performance, scalability, availability, maintainability, disaster recovery and uptime

Create and maintains technical design documentation to support development

Create test scripts and support Quality Assurance activities as needed

Debugging and fixing automation scripts in production

Investigating and documenting better practices/alternative solutions that could be used in future development

Share experience and knowledge to assist in the development of recommendations and solutions that are in-line with industry best practices

Follow Scrum/Agile principles and attend all scrum events like Daily Scrum and Sprint Planning

Collaborate with other members of the Scrum team to ensure timely delivery of requirements

Train and mentor junior developers to follow best practices for technologies being used

Skills and Qualifications:

​The candidate:

Bachelor’s Degree in any technology course (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, IT, MIS, or a related analytical field) with preference for applicants with experience in programming.

Tools/Technical/Process Specific Knowledge or Skills:

4+ years of development experience with a solid understanding of programming concepts.

2+ years of experience with any automation tool

Previous experience with the MS Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI)

Working knowledge and experience in the following programming languages: (Nice to have)

.NET, C#, Visual Basic, JavaScript, Python, AJAX, jQuery, JSON, XML and Web Services

HTML 5 and CSS3 and Responsive Web Design

MS-SQL Tables, Views, Stored Procedures, Triggers and Functions

Understanding of process design documents and technical design documents on automation space

Workflow Modeling applications

Soft skills:

Business acumen, ability to relate activities to Manulife business model

Strong knowledge of object and data models; understanding of fields and attributes

Strong ability to configure and resolve issues

Can conduct classroom and virtual trainings

Can mentor colleagues

Can adjust and adapt when working under pressure

Ability to work well with business unit SMEs, Business Analysts, vendors, and end users

Must be an adaptable self-starter and work with minimal supervision.

Must be able to juggle multiple projects and organize time effectively

Moderate to strong communication skills - verbal, written, and presentation; ability to adapt content to various audiences; communicates effectively
