We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Software Test Engineer II to design, implement, and execute tests as part of our Patriot Software Team in Tewksbury, Massachusetts.  Patriot is the world's pre-eminent air defense system, and we are currently developing software in support of new system capabilities. In this role, you will work closely with software developers, system architects, and product leads to ensure that the solutions we deliver meet our customer’s requirements. You’ll have the opportunity to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where your contributions will have a direct impact on the success of our products around the world.

What You Will Do 

Review Software Requirements: Analyze and understand software requirements to ensure clarity and testability. Write Test Objectives: Develop clear and concise test objectives that guide the testing process and ensure comprehensive coverage. Design Test Cases: Create innovative and effective test cases, both manual and automated, based on test objectives. Execute Test Cases: Conduct thorough testing of new and modified software in our on-site lab environment. Data Analysis: Analyze test results in relation to specified requirements and clearly document any discrepancies. Collaboration: Work closely with other test engineers and developers to ensure seamless integration and functionality of software products. This position requires onsite presence and extensive interaction with other groups including Systems Design engineering and the Software Development Team. Light travel may be required. Off hours testing (2nd or 3rd shift) occasionally may also be required.  

Qualifications You Must Have 

Typically requires a bachelor’s in science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of experience. Experience with Software Engineering. Experience in Validation, Verification, Requirements Analysis and/or Testing. The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. 

Qualifications We Prefer 

Active Secret security clearance. Knowledge of software testing methodologies (functional, integration, regression, performance, etc.) and best practicesExperience with bug tracking and test management tools.Experience with DOORS (Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System) or other requirements traceability tool.Exceptional attention to detail to identify and document any anomalies or inconsistencies in software performance. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to effectively diagnose and address issues. Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively report defects, progress, and test results to stakeholders.

Onsite: Employees will work primarily onsite. 

This position requires a security clearance. DCSA Consolidated Adjudication Services (DCSA CAS), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. This position is in Tewksbury, Massachusetts. Living in Massachusetts means you’ll have easy access to the ocean and locations of historical significance. The salary range for this role is 64,000 USD - 128,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
