Spectrolab, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, is hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Associate and Experienced Solar Panel/Array Assembly Manufacturing Engineers to join our Engineering group located at our manufacturing facility in Sylmar, California.

Space Station.  Since its founding in 1956, Spectrolab has led the way in the development of high efficiency solar cells for space missions.  During the Apollo 11 mission in 1969, a Spectrolab product became the first solar panel to be placed on the moon.

Position Responsibilities Include:

Develops and implements production processes and generates/maintains process documentation to ensure correct and consistent process application in production.Analyzes design/build concepts to evaluate producible design/build definitions.Participates in gated process/product reviews and presents PFMECA and process/training readiness information to both internal and external customers.Leads and implements manufacturing plans and assists in developing and maintaining manufacturing training requirements.Supports definition of required tooling methodologies to ensure consistent process application.Conducts producibility and variation analyses to ensure that manufacturing process capability matches requirements.Assists in providing producibility information for inclusion in project plans and helps document producibility best practices.Identifies leading edge technologies, materials or process improvements and targeted automation to improve ergonomics, safety, cost, and schedule.Develops and monitors SPC and process paretos to identify and correct process drift and identify and implement continuous improvements to product and process.Resolves technical problems of significant impact to performance, cost or schedule.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science1+ years of experience working in a manufacturing/production environment.1+ years of experience in assembly or mechanical work.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experienceGeneral Array Integration and Test operations support.Maintaining production procedure and documentation.Experience Leading or participating in LEAN events (AIW, 3P etc.).Experience with Factory Automation business capabilities such as machine tool integration and/or fabrication.Experience leading RCCA investigations.Experience with Database design/development (SQL preferred).Experience as process trainer (maintain training record).Familiarity with AS9100, NASA, AIAA, and other Aerospace standards.Experience in hands on troubleshooting & resolving of process and/or test and/or software issues.Familiarity or experience in solar cell technology and/or manufacturing.

Typical Education/Experience:

Level 2 (Associate)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science,

mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and

experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Level 3 (Experienced)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years'

related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:

Summary pay range:

Associate (level 2):  80,750 – 109,250

Experience (level 3):  96,050 – 129,950
