Transports collected garbage, recyclables, brush and other materials to appropriate City disposal sites. May exercise functional supervision over assigned crew. Work Location 6927 W Commerce San Antonio, TX 78228 Work Schedule Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday 6:30 AM - 4:30 PM Essential Job Functions + Ensures that collection workers have all necessary work equipment. + Inspects collection vehicle for proper mechanical functioning. + Collects garbage, recyclables, brush and other materials on assigned routes + Operates a large commercial vehicle to transport materials to appropriate disposal site. + Complies with local rules and regulations. + Operates mechanism for unloading truck. + Operates a packer type collection vehicle. + Operates all equipment attached to trucks such as compactor, drums and hopper. + Completes a daily activity report. + Cleans truck at the end of each work day. + Consults with supervisor on any route changes or hazardous driving conditions. + May pick up, carry and empty refuse into appropriate vehicle, which includes lifting and carrying bins and materials weighing 40 pounds. + Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required. Job Requirements + Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance. + Six (6) months of truck driving experience, or completion of an SA: Ready to Work CDL training program, or completion of the Solid Waste Management Department's Apprentice I Program + Valid Texas Commercial Class "B" Driver's License. Applicant Information + Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience in order to meet the minimum requirements of the job. One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months.
