In the role of Solid Waste Planner, we'll count on you to:Contribute towards the development of long-range waste management strategic plans for municipalitiesResearch, identify, assess, and evaluate alternate diversion and disposal technologies and programsSupport planning and approvals processes for a range of waste management facilitiesAssist in preparing project reports, memorandums, and presentations by knowing the receiving audience perspectiveFoster client relationships through marketing and preparation of proposals for new projectsIncorporate strategic communications and engagement with multiple stakeholdersLead and coordinate projects across the United States, collaborating with staff in our various offices or with strategic partnersWork on comparable, new, and exciting projects around HDR’s networkOther duties as assignedPreferred QualificationsKnowledge of TRUE Advisor and / or SWANA Zero WasteKnowledge of Circular Economy and Extended Producer ResponsibilitiesKnowledge of Environmental JusticeKnowledge of Solid Waste Management Systems

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning or closely related fieldExperience with Microsoft Office programsSelf-starter with excellent writing and communication skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamStrong conceptual, organizational, problem-solving and research abilitiesMay require the ability to travelAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
