Solution Architect – Electric Utilities 

Location: North America - Remote, Hybrid, or Office 

  

Position Summary:  

  

The Industry Solutions Group is a strategic partner to sales, marketing, and product groups across the company, responsible for building a compelling vision of Bentley solutions for Bentley users and prospects in some of the largest organizations in the world.   

  

As a Solution Architect, you will be the go-to technical resource who brings the solutions created for Electric Utilities to life for the first time. You will leverage your understanding of the broad collection of capabilities from across Bentley as well as your deep knowledge of Electric Utility product capabilities to create repeatably deployable solutions that solve some of the most difficult challenges facing utilities. This will include Preto- and prototyping, leveraging integrations, user validation technical support, coordination with technical peers from across the Product Advancement Group, and other technical responsibilities. 

  

The right candidate will bring an understanding of Electric Utilities, how they operate and make technology decisions, and a perspective on potential partners where integrations create additional value for our user community.   

  

Your Day-to-Day:  

  

Work with Electric Utilities Solution Managers to understand business needs in order to effectively develop, test and validate solutions at a technical level.  Develop a deep technical understanding of the breadth of Bentley’s capabilities beyond the Electric Utilities specific applications.  Experiment and create proof of concept elements in alignment with Electric Utilities Solutions goals and priorities.  Identify workflow and dataflow gaps in a solution that require integrations or product modification to meet the needs of solutions in development  Assist with the creation of internal training materials to bring sales and marketing colleagues up to speed as solutions are prepared for launch.  Collaborate with other similar colleagues across other industries seeking and defining opportunities to work together.  Support other Bentley industry groups when time allows.  Support the Bentley Solutions Engineering team in their user-facing engagement.  Participate in other Electric Utilities and Industry Solutions Group initiatives and projects. 

  

What You Bring to The Team:  

  

Knowledge of the Electric Utilities industry, globally preferred.  Experience creating and/or leveraging existing integrations in new and novel ways that create value  A curious, creative approach to solving problems  Familiarity with industry leaders in technology, specifically both desktop and cloud technologies.  Experience working with geospatial technologies including Esri, Cesium, Google, and others.  Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.   Knowledge and/or experience with 2D and 3D Cad technologies.  Experience or comfort in sales scenarios as a technical expert.  Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.  Ability to travel up to 25% to engage with users. Support sales activities, and participate in industry events internationally.  Requires sitting or standing at will while performing work on a computer (or any other physical requirements).
