Job Description
The Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY) is the largest Fire Department in the United States and universally is recognized as the world's busiest and most highly skilled emergency response agency. The Department's main goal is to provide fire protection, emergency medical care, and other critical public safety services to residents and visitors in the five boroughs. The Fire Department, City of New York (FDNY), seeks a full-time Solution Architect for CAD in the Bureau of Technology Systems and Development. Reporting directly to the Director of Application Development, the successful candidate will:
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to the CAD Application Development group
- Design and document the high-level architectural specifications of new applications
- Make and enforce decisions regarding technology, system workflow, database design and interface with other internal and external systems
- Develop best practices, strategies and methodologies for solution delivery
- Architect and design new applications from a component, security, workflow and integration standpoint
- Maintain high-level understanding of technologies, procedures and concepts across multiple streams
- Understand the current IT infrastructure deployed within FDNY specifically the Oracle Fusion Middleware Stack (including WebLogic, OBIEE, Oracle Access Manager, Oracle Unified Directory and Oracle Service Buss)
- Bring various initiatives, including mobility and external interfaces, to fruition
- Review future technologies and create and maintain architectural roadmaps for development teams
- Mentor technical team members
- Serve as the escalation point for complex technical project issues
- Manage customer satisfaction by overseeing and leading technical work streams and managing client project expectations using a technical consulting team
- Design and present innovative technology implementations to senior management.
Special Working Conditions: May be required to work shifts including nights, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

Qualifications
1. A baccalaureate degree in computer science, engineering or a related field from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to IT automation engineering, monitoring engineering, management of infrastructure; or
2. Eight years of satisfactory full-time experience related to IT automation engineering, monitoring engineering, management of infrastructure;
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above.
