What You Will Contribute:
 

The Solution Architect is responsible for providing advanced pre-sales technical support for the Municipal Sales Team and authorized distribution partners. This role supports Badger Meter’s municipal product lines, covering the entire water cycle by delivering technical training, responding to bids and RFPs, supporting system pre-installation planning, and engaging directly with customers at trade shows, technical seminars, and presentations. Success in this position requires extensive technical expertise in Badger Meter’s municipal product portfolio and a deep understanding of the water and wastewater industry.

This position will serve the Eastern Region. Candidates for this position must reside in the region being served. This position is 75% travel.

Responsibilities:

Pre-Sales Technical Expertise:Serve as the primary technical resource for the Municipal Sales Team, designing solutions and systems tailored to customer requirements.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of municipal product lines, associated software, and competitor offerings to provide informed recommendations.Customer and Stakeholder Engagement:Deliver technical presentations to prospects, target accounts, and existing customers.Respond promptly and accurately to inquiries, bids, and RFPs to support customer decision-making.Participate in trade shows, technical seminars, lunch-and-learns, and industry events as a representative of Badger Meter.Project Support:Facilitate system pre-installation planning with customers to ensure successful deployment and operation of solutions.Regularly report on sales project progress and provide updates in response to specific inquiries.Support special sales support projects and other initiatives as required.Market Analysis and Competitive Insights:Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and market developments, sharing insights with sales and marketing teams to refine strategies.Stay informed about competitor pricing, new product introductions, and changes in market conditions.Compliance and Standards:Conduct all activities in compliance with governmental regulations and company policies.Internal Collaboration and Training:Act as a mentor to peers and sales representatives, enhancing team knowledge of products and processes.Support onboarding and ongoing training of internal and external sales representatives to improve overall technical competency.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field.Minimum of five years of technical sales or related experience.At least five years of experience in the water/wastewater industry, with utility experience preferred.Technical Knowledge:Deep understanding of water distribution and water/wastewater treatment processes.Familiarity with regulatory compliance and reporting requirements.Skills and Competencies:Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.Experience with CRM systems and sales tools.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to address customer challenges effectively.

Leadership and Mentorship:

Function as a technical leader within the team, driving deeper understanding of water and wastewater processes across sales and support teams.Mentor team members to develop technical skills and improve operational efficiencies.

Working Conditions:
This position requires regular travel to customer locations, trade shows, and industry events, in addition to office-based work for planning, collaboration, and reporting.

Expected salary for this position is $95,000-$110,000 plus quarterly incentive bonuses.
