Summary
The Solution Development Consultant is a key member of Workiva's Growth Solution team. This team creates innovative solutions on the Workiva platform, driving commercial growth and customer satisfaction. It focuses on exploring new markets, designing and refining solutions, and establishing best practices for new and emerging use cases on the Workiva platform.
As a Solution Development Consultant, you will play a critical role in shaping solutions on the Workiva platform, particularly in the field of carbon emissions accounting & reporting technology. You’ll work cross-functionally with various teams to strategically build solutions, gather feedback, and use insights to guide ongoing solution development. While this role does involve collaboration with external delivery partners and clients, its primary focus is on solution development and enabling strategic implementation methodology.
What You'll Do
Solution Development & Innovation
Organize, design, and iterate on solution architectures for decarbonization, climate, and sustainability outcomes using the Workiva platform
Develop a deep understanding of Workiva’s products to align platform capabilities with diverse client needs and evolving regulatory standards
Product Development Support
Collaborate with Workiva’s product development team, providing strategic feedback from client engagements and field tests
Draft requirements based on client and partner insights to enhance platform functionality, particularly for carbon accounting and reporting needs
Documentation & Training
Create and maintain documentation and training materials that ensure internal teams, external partners, and clients can implement carbon accounting solutions effectively.
Provide clear, consistent training resources to support a high-quality client experience.
Pre-Sales Engagement
Participate in pre-sales discussions to test solution designs and gather feedback from potential clients, setting accurate expectations for functionality and strategic implementation
Continuous Learning & Knowledge Building
Stay informed on carbon accounting standards, trends, and technologies through independent study and company-provided training
Maintain and expand knowledge of the Workiva platform’s applications in carbon accounting, contributing to informed and effective solutions for clients
What You’ll Need
Minimum Qualifications
3+ years of experience with carbon emissions accounting and techniques (Greenhouse Gas Protocol), in a subject matter expert or technology implementation role for client-facing engagements
Undergraduate degree or equivalent career experience
Preferred Qualifications
Hands-on experience with complex software platforms, SaaS, cloud technologies, or data architectures
Experience in advisory, reporting, and/or technical implementation services for broader sustainability management topics (e.g. CSRD, SBTi)
Experience working with external implementation partners.
Enhanced technology knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
Familiarity with SQL, JSON, REST, or Python is a plus
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong presentation skills – ability to communicate topics clearly and succinctly to various audiences, both internally and externally.
Self-motivated, with a strong propensity for action, results, and continuous improvement
Demonstrated ability to influence and drive change in business processes
Travel Requirements and Working Conditions
25% Travel for customer and internal meetings
Reliable internet access for any period of time working remotely and not in a Workiva office
How You’ll Be Rewarded
✅ Salary range in the US: $111,000.00 - $178,000.00✅ A discretionary bonus typically paid annually
✅ Restricted Stock Units granted at time of hire
