This role is responsible for understanding business needs and driving technology direction and solution delivery within a business domain.

Key Responsibilities

The Solution Lead (SL) is responsible for delivery of high quality IT product or applications to the business. Key responsibilities may be categorised into five areas:

 

Business Engagement

Support pre-project consulting for a portfolio pipeline of initiativesCapture and communicate business direction, challenges and requirementsSupport business process changeRecommends commercially and technically viable ideas to improve the business performance

 

Technology Design and Implementation

Work closely with the developers, analyst and architects to architect and develop the best technical design. Conceptualise and propose solution approachesPlanning, designing, developing, implementing, and supporting IT products and applications to meet the customer needsProvide an escalation point for solution analysts in order to deliver business solutions that include technology implementations and/or adaptationsRecommends and implements simple continuous improvement of standard Cathay IT PracticesKeep abreast of latest trends in technology, industry and corresponding business domainResponsible for application maintenance and striving for continuous improvements within the application lifecycle

 

Project Delivery

Focus on small to medium scale initiativesInitiate, define, plan and execute tasks / initiativesTest all solution aspects including but not limited to security, performance, integrationFacilitate project progress through relevant gatesManage the day-to-day activities of the software development team and external 3rd parties as required

 

People Management

Contribute to team resource planningManage external 3rd parties as required

 

The Solution Lead may also:

Be directly involved in implement solutions in an Agile development teamDirectly manage one or more Solution AnalystsPerform the role of surrogate Product Owner / BU SME (generally Senior)Coach Solution Analysts on any aspect of their role

Academic Qualifications

Bachelor degree or above, Masters preferred

 

Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience

8+ years of related IT experience covering but not limited to:Software developmentSystem analysisBusiness analysisSolution definitionSystem TestingClient facing experience with successful relationship management is a plusProven verbal and written communication skillProfessional, passionate, innovative, self-motivated and able to present solutions to diverse groups of stakeholdersStrong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, leveraging both logic and creativityProven troubleshooting skills; ability to identify patterns and generate ideasAirline or travel industry knowledge is highly beneficialSolid software development skill is highly beneficialSolid experience in systems analysis and software development, with sound knowledge and experience in some of the below areas: Front-end framework, responsive web design and scripts such as HTML5, CSS3, jQuery, AngularJS and ReactJS, Websockets and JSON.Secure, robust and high transaction volume web development with Spring boot, J2EE, Node.JS, Adobe Experience Manager, web accessibility and Search Engine OptimizationAPI and micro-services developmentOpen Source Technology and its managed cloud services such as Java, MySQL, Redis and MongoDB.Implementation and operation of reference architecture, resources and services on Public Clouds.Docker configuration of Tomcat Application Server, Adobe Experience Manager.CI/CD and monitoring tools (e.g Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform and AppDynamics).Knowledge on database design and ETL tools.Personal & Application Information
