\nA Conrad Sommelier s is responsible for recommending wines and having a thorough and current knowledge of wines to deliver an excellent Guest and Member experience while assisting with achieving departmental targets.
\n\nWhat will I be doing?
\nAs a Conrad Sommelier, you are responsible for recommending wines and having a thorough and current knowledge of wines to deliver an excellent Guest and Member experience. A Sommelier will also be required to assist in achieving department targets. Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
\n\n\nContinuously improve beverage sales.\n\n\nCreate and update the wine list in coordination with chefs and the Food and Beverage Manager\nRecommending food and wine pairings\nAdvising guests on wines based on their personal tastes and food choices\nInform guests about different varieties of wines and prices\nAnalyze beverage costs and prepare monthly reporting.\nTo organize promotions in various outlets on wine/spirits with various wine suppliers.\nEnsure wines are served at the right temperature and within the proper glassware\nMaintain appropriate relationship with wine/spirit suppliers and bar consultants.\nTo plan order of beverages for the hotel and special order for any special event.\nNegotiate purchase prices with vendors\nOrganize wine tasting days or “wine of the month” events\nTo suggest special beverage promotions or implement as instructed by Food and Beverage Management.\nTo attend daily F&B Meeting to discuss daily event / set up.\nTo carry out any other duties as and when require by Food and Beverage leadership.\nTraining waitstaff on wines\n
What are we looking for?
\nA Conrad Sommelier serving the Hilton Worldwide Brand, you are always working on behalf of our Guests and Team Members. To successfully fill this role, you should maintain the attitude, behaviors, skills, and values that follow:
\n\nPositive attitude\nGood communication skills\nFlexibility to respond to a range of different work situations\nAbility to work on your own or in teams\nExperience as a Sommelier, Wine Steward/Stewardess or similar role\nAbility to create tasteful food and wine pairings\nExtensive knowledge of different wines and which regions produce each type\nKnowledge of local vineyards and wineries\nUnderstanding of the winemaking process\nAvailability to work during opening hours, including weekends and holidays\nFlexibility to travel occasionally to meet with wine producers and visit wine-tasting events\n\n\n
It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:
\n\n\nExperience in Food & Beverage department and/or industry\nKnowledge of Food Hygiene Regulations\nCertification as a Sommelier or degree in hospitality is a plus – Knowledge of serving western and Chinese cuisine\n\n
