Position Summary
Performs all diagnostic ultrasound examinations that create the images needed for diagnosis. The sonographer integrates scientific knowledge and technical skills with effective patient interaction to provide quality patient care and useful diagnostic information.
Primary Position Responsibilities
1.Performs all ultrasound procedures (General, OB-Gyn, Breast and/or Vascular, as appropriate) including patient positioning, machine set-up, image acquisition, measurements, and post-processing.
2.Follow all National Patient Safety Goals.
3.Provide recordkeeping of patient history and symptoms.
4.Review orders, explain procedure, answer questions and provide a high level of patient satisfaction.
5.Assist physician in the performance of invasive ultrasound procedures, if applicable.
6.Maintains cleanliness of department and assures adequate supply inventory.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
Required:
Graduate of an Accredited School of Diagnostic Medical Sonography
Preferred:
Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Related Field of Study
Minimum Years of Experience (Amount, Type and Variation):
Preferred:
1-2 years of prior experience in Ultrasound
License, Registry or Certification:
Required:
Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Credential or registry-eligible in appropriate areas of Ultrasound (general, OB-GYN, Vascular)
Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:
Required:
Skills in diagnostic ultrasound examination and ability to integrate scientific knowledge and technical skills to effectively interact with all patients to provide quality patient care and useful diagnostic information.
