Overview Under the direction of the Maternal-Fetal Medicine physician, the fetal sonographer will perform fetal ultrasound examinations according to the standards set forth by Mercyhealth system and the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine. These exams include fetal growth ultrasounds, anatomical evaluations, targeted (level II) ultrasound exams, and fetal doppler velocimetry exams. Assist with continuous guidance during invasive ultrasound procedures. Travel and coverage of various outlying Mercyhealth outreach clinics. Mulford Clinic, Rockford IL 80 Hours/2 Weeks Monday-Friday, Day Shift Responsibilities ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Performance of assigned fetal ultrasound examinations. • Provides thorough and accurate documentation in the digital reporting software. • Effective communication of verbal history and findings • Select and operate appropriate ultrasound transducers and adjust technical factors to guarantee patient safety while still obtaining the highest quality ultrasound image possible (abiding by the ALARA, as low as reasonably achievable, principle). • Participation in department quality assurance meetings. • Consistently follow established safety rules and regulations. • Knowledge of current High-Risk Obstetrical ultrasound practice and guidelines. • Evaluate equipment to ensure it is in proper working condition and place appropriate work orders when necessary. • Work collaboratively with other partners to provide the utmost quality in patient care and satisfaction. Education and Experience Graduate of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program. Obstetrical ultrasound experience preferred with high-risk of perinatal sonography experience a plus. Ability to learn protocols and systems so that one can work at a minimum of 1 of the 3 OB/GYN/MFM ultrasound offices in the Rockford region of Mercyhealth System. Certification/Licensure Registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Current CPR certification Special Physical Demands While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
