The Lead General Sonographer (LGS) is responsible for reporting and relaying information regarding the ultrasound lab to the TCHCS Fields Operations Manager and other management. The LGS is responsible for ensuring quality general / OB imaging at accounts. The LGS develops and maintains excellent relations with the Client and acts as a liaison between the Client and TCHCS. The LGS works directly with the Clients and the reading & referring physicians to ensure that protocol and policy are followed to their satisfaction.
Maintain accreditation of General Ultrasound department.Organize and execute regular quality assurance assessments of imaging performed at TCHCS General / OB Ultrasound sites, with results reporting.Meet with the Clients’ Medical Staff and Department Managers as needed to update them on the status and important changes in the lab.Participate in recruiting / interview process as needed for candidates in this department.Participate in annual reviews of staff in this department.Distribute and communicate policy, procedural and protocol changes and updates to General Ultrasound staff members as directed by either the Clinical Manager or the Field Operations Manager in conjunction with the Clients’ Department Managers.Perform all duties of a General Sonographer, and use these skills in training and coaching.Education:
Associate or Bachelor’s degree.RDMS Registry in related ultrasound specialty ( Abd/sm parts)
Years of Experience:
Minimally 3 years in ultrasound testingRequired Skills and Knowledge:
Advanced technical skills and knowledge of a registered medical sonographer and ability to train sonographers on all department equipment and teach diagnostic procedures.Strong leadership ability to develop and maintain team cohesiveness in providing ultrasound servicesMaturity to direct, delegate and function appropriately under stress.Proven ability to interact positively and constructively with staff, patients and physicians both in person and by telephone.Superior skill set to provide relevant technical information about the exam to the interpreting physician.Superior customer service and communication skills to interact positively and constructively with staff, patients and physicians both in person and by telephone.Licenses and Certifications:
This position requires current certification in Abdominal Ultrasound by the ARDMS.BLS Certification.
