What’s the role?
The Sourcing Specialist – Indirect Materials will lead the sourcing and procurement of Indirect Materials (NPM) for ZEISS U.S. entities across the United States. This role requires strong leadership and collaboration with Carl Zeiss AG in Oberkochen, Germany, ensuring alignment with global procurement strategies. The specialist will work across multiple business units to manage supplier relationships, optimize costs, and enhance procurement processes while maintaining high-quality service levels.
This position will be a 3-6 month contract, subject to business needs.

Here’s what you’ll do:
Develop strong relationships and an active network with procurement leaders and department colleagues across ZEISS U.S. entities.
Create and implement category strategies to optimize costs and service levels across multiple entities.
Collaborate with NPM buyers in Carl Zeiss AG (Germany) to develop and align global procurement strategies.
Facilitate cross-organizational discussions to understand business needs, drive consensus, and support strategic initiatives.
Lead supplier negotiations and selection to meet quality, service, and cost objectives.
Oversee and monitor contract negotiations for NPM projects.
Manage and optimize supplier performance, ensuring alignment with contractual standards.
Implement supplier management programs to drive efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Identify and leverage cost-saving opportunities through supplier consolidation and volume standardization.
Monitor and report monthly procurement KPIs to assess performance and drive improvements.
Define and implement best-in-class procurement and service programs.
Conduct data analysis to identify cost reduction opportunities and optimize procurement processes.
Key Procurement Categories Managed:
Corporate Travel – U.S. airline and hotel programs, rental agreements, compliance tracking.
Office Supplies & Packaging – Standardization and volume purchasing.
Maintenance, Repair & Operations (MRO) – Shop supplies, janitorial, cleaning, and lab materials.
Marketing – Print, trade shows, online services, and cost optimization.
Staffing Services – Strategic supplier partnerships and cost-effective hiring solutions.
Expense Standardization – Centralizing indirect spend categories to enhance cost control and alignment across U.S. business groups.
Training & Compliance Support – Developing user-friendly resources to ensure adherence to procurement programs.
Do you qualify?
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
3-5 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, negotiations, and financial analysis.
Proven ability to lead supplier and peer relationships while aligning procurement strategies.
Experience managing various indirect procurement categories, such as corporate travel, IT, logistics, marketing, and corporate services.
Strong analytical skills to assess cost-saving opportunities and supplier performance.
Financial acumen to evaluate total cost of procurement and contract negotiations.
Excellent negotiation skills with a solid understanding of contract law.
Expertise in project management, procurement methodologies, and data analysis.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English (additional languages beneficial).
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams across technical, sales, manufacturing, and business process areas.
A proactive mindset, with the ability to drive change and create win-win outcomes.
Strong reporting skills, able to present updates in multiple formats to leadership.
Working Conditions and Special Demands:
Location: The role is primarily based in White Plains, New York.
Hybrid Work: 3 days in the office, 2 days remote.
